We present these pages to offer some well-deserved recognition for the wonderful people who have given their ideas, sweat, and time to the Marshalltown Community Theatre.  Without their efforts, our theatre would be little more than a dark room.  We celebrate your generous gift to our community!

If you have participated in an MCT production in the past, in any capacity, please take your bow with the folks on these pages.  Contact the MCT Technical Director to arrange to be included.

Jyoti RANDHAWA
Marshalltown, IA
While on a well deserved break from her University of Iowa research stint and an upcoming psychiatry residency, Jyoti became a new addition to the MCT stage when she took on the role of Maggie in JAKE'S WOMEN.  The anatomy of her acting experience and achievements includes not only an MCC production of HOGLOT HEAVEN, but various national tournaments and competitions for dramatics and speech, including the Iowa High School Speech Association's highest honor given for speech debate.  Jyoti thought it would be nice to obtain a back-up career in acting in order to meet the ever increasing demand for tall, "wheatish" looking actresses that plagues the nation.  She hopes her background in research, the medical field, and her current acting adventure will help her land her dream job - playing a doctor on the television show "House"...or "ER"...or yes, "Scrubs."

Janine RAWLINGS
Marshalltown, IA
In 1993, a very persuasive Mary Ann Tordsen convinced Janine to audition for the part of a psychic maid in BLYTHE SPIRIT, even though she was quite familiar with the theatre from working behind the scenes on several prop crews prior to her 'one and only' performance. The theatre beckoned her during the Spring of 2007, calling her name to stage manage BAREFOOT IN THE PARK. Janine kept the momentum going, being the assistant director / stage manager for MCT's Summer Musical COMPANY that same year.  As a speech and language pathologist for the AEA 267, fostering clear communication from the hundreds of students she has worked with has been her passion.  She adds, "My son Adam is my pride and joy."

Bill C. ROBERTS
Glenn Heights, TX
Not to be confused with the OTHER Bill Roberts, this one is often mistaken for an old guy of the theatre as well.  In thirty plus years Bill has done it all, from a 10-word bit part in MY FAIR LADY in the summer of 1971 to the male lead in DARK OF THE MOON, (he was honored with the 1972-73 season "Martha Ellen Tye Award" for "Outstanding Performance by a Male in a Leading Role"), to creating special effects, lighting, sound, makeup, set design, set construction and serving as a Board Member with various theatres around the country.  He has started and runs a technical theatre props company called Theatrical Reality, Inc.  Bill now lives in suburban Dallas, Texas, but still has ties to MCT as webmaster for this site.

Bill ROBERTS
Marshalltown, IA
Bill has donned many roles that will go down in MCT theatre history.  He has been in too many productions here at MCT to list.  Bill wonders, “Why do I always play an older person?  It’s hard on the makeup people.”  He also states that he loves musicals, but doesn’t sing.

Crazy and fun are the best words to describe Shy.  She's a high spirited person who loves meeting people.  Singing and performing in front of an audience are her passions in life.  Our 2006 production of WORKING was Shyeaka's first actual community theatre production, playing the part of Maggie, although she has had past performances in FOR COLORED GIRLS, DECK CHAIRS, and the female version of THE ODD COUPLE.

Marshalltown, IA
Karen's joys include her family, gardening, teaching, and theatre.  Although family time often revolves around her son Aaron and his swimming activities, she makes time for theatre projects with her  husband Frank. Roger D. RUTH
Marshalltown, IA

Roger became addicted to theatre while in high school where he played a mere Seabee in SOUTH PACIFIC.  In his senior year, wanting bigger and better roles, he managed to get the lead role in HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING as J. Pierrepont Finch.  He continued on to college with a vocal jazz scholarship at SWCC in Creston, IA.  Roger says, “I have not performed much on stage since then, but I am known to do so in other, informal places.”  If you have managed to be with Roger on social occasions, or even in the area, you will know what this means.  Roger classifies himself as a “Broadway Junkie!!"  He has been in Marshalltown since early 2001 and enjoys the numerous talents at MCT.
